Information about Managed Care Dental sent to Apple Health Clients

Health Care Authority (HCA) has sent letters to all eligible Apple Health clients that managed care dental will be implemented on July 1, 2019. This letter provides an overview of the differences between managed care dental and coverage without a managed care dental plan (also referred to as fee-for-service).

Apple Health clients do not need to do anything at this time. Most clients who are eligible for managed care dental will be auto-enrolled into a dental plan at the end of May. Once clients have received their enrollment letter they will have an opportunity to change plans prior to the implementation on July 1, 2019.

If clients are not enrolled in a managed care dental plan (for example, if one is not available in their area), HCA will continue to cover their dental services.

HCA gives American Indians and Alaska Natives a choice between either Apple Health coverage with or coverage without a managed care dental plan.
