DOH E-Prescribing Survey

The DOH is currently conducting a short survey to gather high-level information about the impacts of Washington state's e-prescribing mandate.

SSB 5380 — passed during the 2019 legislative session — made a number of regulatory changes regarding opioids, including requiring all providers to use electronic prescribing for all prescriptions for Schedule II-V substances, and all refills for Schedules III-V.

As part of this mandate, the Department of Health (DOH) is directed to create a waiver for providers experiencing an economic, technological, or other exceptional circumstance which prevents the provider from complying with the e-prescribing mandate.

The DOH is currently conducting a short five-question survey to gather high-level information about the impacts of this mandate as the department crafts rules establishing the waiver.

The survey deadline is Friday, Aug. 14. Please contact Cori Tarzwell, policy analyst for the Department of Health at cori.tarzwell@doh.wa.gov with any questions.
