Update on PMP System Upgrade

The Department of Health went live with an updated version of the Prescription Monitoring Program on May 5.
Please see the following update from the Department of Health regarding an update to the Prescription Monitoring Program:

Last summer the Department of Health (DOH) signed a three-year extension on our contract with Appriss for the continued operation of the Washington State Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) system. As a part of this contract extension, DOH determined that an upgrade from the legacy system, RxSentry, to the newest platform, AWARxE, was necessary to ensure the continued operation of Washington’s PMP system.

On Tuesday, May 5, after months of planning and testing, we officially went live with the PMP AWARxE platform! Everyone at DOH is excited about this upgrade, which offers updated metrics, faster processing speeds for data entry and queries, and a 24/7 customer service helpdesk. This upgrade will help to ensure that our system and staff are maximizing both productivity and efficiency.

In order to ensure a quality go live, the rollout was delayed by two weeks. We have been working continuously with our partners to solve any issues that had arisen due to this upgrade.

We appreciate all the work our partners have taken on that helped make this upgrade successful! The fact that this took place in the midst of a worldwide pandemic shows how strong our stakeholder partnerships are and we are grateful to work with such dedicate people across the public and private sectors.
