Voice Your Concerns with Board of Denturists' Interpretation

The Board of Denturists has determined a denturist in WA may place an implant prefabricated abutment. Submit comments by October 7.
It has been brought to the attention of the WSDA and the Dental Quality Assurance Commission (DQAC) that the Board of Denturists has determined that a denturist in Washington state may place an implant prefabricated abutment.

The Board of Denturists made this determination in response to an inquiry from a representative from the Washington Denturist Association concerning whether the placement of an implant prefabricated abutment fell within the scope of practice of a licensed denturist.

WSDA, DQAC, and others have expressed concerns with the Board of Denturists’ current interpretation of RCW 18.30.010, and this issue will be an item of discussion at the Board of Denturists’ October 25 meeting.

Should you have concerns with the Board of Denturists’ interpretation, please send any written comments to Vicki Brown at vicki.brown@doh.wa.gov by Monday, October 7.

Alternatively, please consider attending the Board of Denturists’ meeting on October 25 at 1 PM at the Department of Health, Town Center 3, 243 Israel Rd. S.E., Room 224, Tumwater, WA 98501.
