WSDA Seeks Action and Clarity from Governor’s Office

WSDA has been very active in advocating for solutions to the impacts that COVID-19 has had on dentists, their staff, and the patients they serve.

As the state’s premier advocate for dentistry, WSDA has been very active in advocating for solutions to the impacts that COVID-19 has had on dentists, their staff, and the patients they serve. Most of this advocacy happens behind the scenes but be assured that we are continuing to work for you.

The following are two specific examples of our ongoing advocacy from the last few days.

Letter to Governor Inslee

Earlier today, we sent a letter to Governor Inslee and the Secretary of Health seeking action and clarity on the following:

  • Liability immunity for following COVID-19 public health mandates
  • A request that non-emergent dental care, with appropriate patient screening and infection control protocols, resume as soon as possible
  • Clarity around what specific criteria are being used to determine when dental and medical offices can resume providing routine care
  • A request to modify the scope of practice for all dental team members to include COVID-19 testing

Letter to the Employment Security Department

Earlier this week, we sent a letter to the Employment Security Department requesting that all dental practice owners be included as eligible employers to apply for benefit charge reduction under the COVID-19 Unemployment Account. We will continue to advocate on behalf of our members during this rulemaking process.

We know that our members work tirelessly for their patients in their pursuit of providing optimal oral health care. WSDA is working tirelessly for you.
