Dental Prescription Coverage

From the HCA:

Effective July 1, 2019, for clients enrolled in an agency-contracted Apple Health managed care plan, dental prescriptions will no longer be paid through the fee-for-service program. Dental prescriptions for these clients must be billed to the medical managed care plan.

There is no billing change for clients enrolled in the Apple Health fee-for-service program.

Background
During the 2017 legislative session, SSB 5883 passed requiring HCA to contract with licensed dental health plans or managed health care plans to provide managed care dental services. The purpose of this legislation is to allow for greater efficiency, increased access, and better oral health outcomes for Apple Health enrollees.
