WDIA: Changes to Your TDIC Policies

Washington Dentists’ Insurance Agency (WDIA) has received many inquiries from TDIC policyholders regarding changes to their TDIC Professional Liability. WDIA wants to be sure that policyholders have correct information about the changes.

Washington Dentists’ Insurance Agency (WDIA) has received many inquiries from TDIC policyholders regarding changes to their TDIC Professional Liability. WDIA wants to be sure that policyholders have correct information about the changes.

When TDIC purchased NORDIC, they kept policyholders on the NORDIC policy contracts. TDIC is now moving policyholders onto the contracts that TDIC has in the other states they cover. Beginning September 2022 and continuing through August 2023, at a TDIC policyholder’s renewal, the policy will be moved onto the new policy contract. This is done with no interruption to coverage.

Prior to the renewal date, TDIC sends multiple letters informing policyholders of the policy contract shift and explaining changes they will see. Below are some policy changes you will notice.

Policy Coverage Limit Changes

The main changes TDIC policyholders will see on their new Professional Liability policy are the new coverage limits being offered. Those with $1 million per occurrence/$5 million aggregate will be mapped to $1 million per occurrence/$3 million aggregate. Those with $2 million per occurrence/$6 million aggregate will be mapped to $3 million per occurrence/$3 million aggregate.

The new policy offers the following coverage limit options: $500,000/$1 million; $1 million/$3 million; $1.5 million/$4.5 million; $3 million/$3 million; or $5 million/$5 million.

Botox/Dermal Filler Coverage Included on Professional Liability Policy

The new TDIC policy contract will cover any procedures that are considered within the scope of practice for a general dentist/specialist in Washington state. As Washington regulations now include Botox procedures, certified dentists will be covered under the TDIC policy with no additional rider needed.

New Policy Numbers

The new policies will have new policy numbers. There will be a separate policy number for each policy a dentist has with TDIC.

New Invoices/Payment System

For invoices and payments, policyholders will receive their invoices two months prior to their renewal date. All policyholders will be invoiced for a semi-annual payment and may pay the annual or semi-annual premium by check. Monthly payments can be made via auto-draft withdrawal only. Quarterly payments are no longer available.

Access to TDIC Policy Portal

Policyholders can now access their policy information through the online policy portal. Dentists are also able to use the portal to pay their premium via credit card ($30 fee), enroll in monthly auto-draft and download patient consent forms.
