HCA: Rulemaking Notice for WSR 23-20

The Health Care Authority (HCA) recently sent the following alert to dental Medicaid providers.

Permanent Adoption (CR103P)

WAC 182-535-1088, Dental-related services - Covered- Periodontic services

The Health Care Authority amended this rule to increase the allowable number of periodontal treatments to up to four per 12- month period for Apple Health eligible clients, age 21 and over, with a current diagnosis of diabetes. This will become effective January 1, 2024.

Medicaid Transition to Managed Care Cancelled

The 2019 Legislature has directed the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) to continue to administer the dental Medicaid program through fee-for-service. The HCA may not proceed with a carved-out or carved-in managed care dental option at this time.
