HCA: End of Coverage for CDT Code D1999, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

The Health Care Authority (HCA) recently sent the following alert to dental Medicaid providers.

Apple Health (Medicaid) Provider Alert

Attention Dental providers:

Coverage for CDT code D1999, which was put in place for temporary reimbursement for personal protective equipment (PPE), will end on November 30, 2020. The Health Care Authority (HCA) will no longer pay for CDT code D1999 for PPE after this date.

Through November 30, 2020, providers can continue to bill for CDT code D1999 to cover the cost of PPE they have purchased.

Medicaid Transition to Managed Care Cancelled

The 2019 Legislature has directed the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) to continue to administer the dental Medicaid program through fee-for-service. The HCA may not proceed with a carved-out or carved-in managed care dental option at this time.
