Please see the following important updates and reminders on different sources of financial assistance during the COVID-19 crisis.

Delta Financial Assistance Application Deadline Tomorrow, April 15

On March 20, Delta Dental of Washington announced two new programs to provide financial support to Delta member dentists as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. Applications for the DDWA Independent Dental Practice Reimbursement Advance Program (RAP) and the DDWA Independent Dental Practice Assistance Fund (PAF) are due April 15. Learn more and complete applications.

A review of the RAP application has been done and members should note that the agreement is meant to be entered into by a dental practice rather than an individual dentist. This is an important distinction, in order to protect an individual dentist from personal liability under the agreement.

SBA EIDL Grant/Advance Changes

Update from the SBA: “To ensure that the greatest number of applicants can receive assistance during this challenging time, the amount of your Advance will be determined by the number of your pre-disaster (i.e., as of January 31, 2020) employees. The Advance will provide $1,000 per employee up to a maximum of $10,000.”

ADA Advocates for PPP Flexibility

In an April 10 letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., the ADA urged Congress to help streamline the Small Business Administration loan application process and to consider allowing small business dental practices to choose the 8-week period for which they can seek loan forgiveness and rehire staff with the Paycheck Protection Program loans. The ADA proposed that the 8-week period could take place any time before Dec. 31 instead of requiring dentists and other small business owners to rehire staff back by June 30. Learn more.
