DQAC Appointments & Pro-Tem Application
Congratulations to the following WSDA members for being appointed to fill open positions on the Dental Quality Assurance Commission by Governor Jay Inslee:
Dr. John Liu
Dr. Brian Macall
Dr. Sonia Pal
The Dental Quality Assurance Commission is also currently accepting applications for pro-tem members. DQAC is looking for public-spirited people with a dental specialty of orthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, or prosthodonics to make decisions in the public’s best interest.
DQAC seeks diversity in members and recognizes the value variety brings in understanding and serving the people of Washington state. The agency seeks candidates with diverse backgrounds and those who provide geographic representation throughout the state.
The Dental Quality Assurance Commission consists of 16 members appointed by the governor. Pro-tem members are appointed by the secretary of the Department of Health and must meet member qualifications listed in chapter 18.32. RCW.
Current law allows pro-tem members to perform only the duties as specified in individual appointments. Pro-tem members may not vote during committee meetings, nor may they vote or be counted as part of a quorum of the full commission during any commission meeting, unless appointed to serve in that capacity.
Routine pro-tem member duties include:
- Participate on formal hearing panels when requested;
- Review unique circumstance disciplinary cases as necessary;
- Participate on panel for unique circumstance case presentations; and
- Participate in training when requested.
If you are interested in applying for service as a pro-tem member to the Dental Quality Assurance Commission, please complete the “DOH Secretary Appointment” application on the DOH website.
