UW Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Opens New Facility

The University of Washington Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery announces the opening of the UW Northwest Center for Oral and Facial Surgery in northeast Seattle. The new enterprise began clinical operations on Feb. 1 at Building 25 in Magnuson Park.

“I have heard repeated from community physicians and dentists that our ability to support the region requires an updated outpatient care setting that is easily accessible to patients,” says Dr. Thomas Dodson, professor and chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. “When doctors refer their patients to our specialists for the best possible surgical care, they must feel confident that the experience will be an extension of the high quality they provide.”

“This move signifies our commitment to be the standard-bearer for oral and maxillofacial surgery in the Pacific Northwest,” Dr. Dodson emphasizes. “Our new facility allows us to elevate the patient experience while also improving patient access.”

The UW Northwest Center for Oral and Facial Surgery has abundant state-of-the-art operating and recovery suites available. Many operations can be undertaken comfortably and safely in our facility without requiring hospitalization. The full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery will be provided, including:

  • Wisdom teeth extraction and management
  • Dental implants
  • Operative treatment of obstructive sleep apnea
  • Orthognathic surgery
  • Reconstructive jaw surgery
  • Cosmetic surgery (Botox, etc.)
  • Removal of benign and malignant tumors
  • Trauma
  • Nerve injury and repair
  • Treatment of disorders of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ)

The UW Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery will continue to maintain uninterrupted services at both Harborview Medical Center and the UW School of Dentistry, as these high-volume clinics provide a vital and irreplaceable service to the community.

The UW Northwest Center for Oral and Facial Surgery is located at 6222 NE 74th St, Suite 200 at Magnuson Park. There is ample free parking and it is conveniently accessible via public transportation.
