Putting Patients First: Antibiotic Prophylaxis
The ADA's recommendation for prophylactic antibiotics prior to dental procedures has changed in recent years, and the ADA is working to clarify information for dental health professionals and patients alike.
The ADA has a number of resources regarding antibiotic prophylaxis available on ADA.org, including articles, a clinical practice guideline and the ADA Chairside Guide. If your patients have questions about antibiotic prophylaxis, you can refer them to the June issue of The Journal of the American Dental Association, which features a For the Patient feature on the topic. You can also refer patients to MouthHealthy.org for more information.
