Dentists Visit Lacey Boys & Girls Club

Last Wednesday, the Washington Oral Health Foundation kicked in the doors of Lacey’s Boys and Girls Club to bring a night of food and fun to the club’s families. Kids visited Mr. Gross Mouth and activity stations, rotating in and out of the dental room where volunteer dentists Dr. Trang Pham, Dr. Stephen Kern and Dr. Andrew Kapust conducted free screenings.

“Dr. Ben Ruder did a great job recruiting the volunteer dentists. Education isn’t enough, but neither is treatment,” says Launa Lea, the Foundation’s Programs Coordinator. “Wrap-around care is the only thing that works. You have to get the whole village involved to really make an impact—the parents, the providers, the community centers and non-profits. Shellica and Mike at the club wanted to find a way to meet the needs of the whole family as much as possible, and they did a phenomenal job bringing so many different pieces together. That’s why tonight was such a success.”
