The Health Care Authority (HCA), as directed by the Washington State Legislature, is cancelling the implementation of managed care dental.
Please read the following update from the HCA:
The Health Care Authority (HCA), as directed by the
Washington State Legislature, is cancelling the implementation of managed care dental. The current Apple Health (Medicaid) fee-for-service (coverage without a dental managed care plan), will remain.
There will be no changes to the current dental services or benefits provided to Apple Health clients.
HCA would like to thank all of the dental providers, stakeholders, and the three Apparent Successful Bidders (ASBs) who actively worked to implement the managed care dental program. While the program itself will not implement on July 1, we will retain much of this important work and apply it to future dental-related projects.
What do providers need to do?
If you are a provider who signed a contract with one of the three ASBs and you have a question about the cancellation clause of your contract, contact that ASB directly.
Apple Health clients do not need to do anything at this time. HCA will be sending an official letter to all Apple Health clients informing them that the managed care dental program will not be implemented, and there will be no changes to their services or benefits.
