Reminder: What You Should Know About the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Program

Reminder: What You Should Know About the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Program

Open enrollment for the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) program runs October 1 through November 15.

Starting January 1, 2020, approximately 150,000 employees of Washington’s school districts, charter schools, and represented employees of Washington’s educational service districts and their eligible dependents will receive health and other insurance benefits through the SEBB Program. These benefits will replace the current health and insurance benefits currently provided by school districts, charter schools and educational service districts.

Under the SEBB Program, eligible school employees will be able to choose from up to three dental plan options, depending on where they live:

  • Uniform Dental Plan (Delta Dental)
  • DeltaCare (Delta Dental)
  • Willamette Dental

Open enrollment for eligible SEBB employees starts on October 1, 2019 and concludes on November 15, 2019. Please note that SEBB employees who do not either enroll in or waive SEBB Program coverage during open enrollment will automatically be enrolled into the Uniform Dental Plan.

For specific details of each plan’s coverage, please refer your patients to the Washington State Health Care Authority’s website

How does this impact me?

You may have patients who are school employees and are confused as to how this affects their dental coverage. WSDA has put together a handout (login required) to help reduce this confusion by informing your patients of the basic differences between the plans and your participation in each plan. Please download the handout on a desktop computer in order to edit and save the personalized section.
