DQAC to Accept 2018 CE Following WSDA Request

DQAC will now accept CE earned after a dentist’s birthday in 2018 through December 31, 2018 to count toward the new three-year reporting period that ends in 2022.
With the new continuing education (CE) rules set to take effect January 1, 2019, WSDA heard concerns from several members that under the new rule, CE credits earned after a dentist’s birthday in 2018 would not count toward the new three-year reporting period in 2022.

After hearing these concerns, WSDA wrote a letter to the Dental Quality Assurance Commission (DQAC) and attended the Commission’s December 7 meeting to request that CE earned during this time be counted toward the new three-year reporting period.

We are happy to share that DQAC will honor WSDA’s request, saving members the time and money that would have been required to replace any CE credits earned after their birthday this year.

In a letter to WSDA, the Commission recognized dentists’ concerns and stated that “appropriate continuing education completed after a dentist’s birthdate in 2018 through December 31, 2018 may be counted for the new three-year reporting period that ends in 2022.”

WSDA will continue to advocate on behalf of our members throughout the regulatory process. For more information about the new continuing education rules, read here or contact WSDA at info@wsda.org.
