Please review the following information from the HCA:

Apple Health (Medicaid) Provider Alert

Orthodontic providers:

Effective for claims with dates of service on and after January 1, 2020, the Health Care Authority (HCA) updated the replacement retainer codes to align with changes to the Current Dental Terminology (CDT) handbook. The following code changes were made:

D8692 – Removed “Replacement of lost or broken retainers.”
D8703 – Added “Replacement of lost or broken retainers – maxillary.”
D8704 – Added “Replacement of lost or broken retainers – mandibular.”

HCA revised the recently updated January 1, 2020, version of the Orthodontic Services Billing Guide to reflect these changes.

Medicaid Transition to Managed Care Cancelled

The 2019 Legislature has directed the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) to continue to administer the dental Medicaid program through fee-for-service. The HCA may not proceed with a carved-out or carved-in managed care dental option at this time.
