Orthodontic providers:
Effective for claims with dates of service on and after January 1, 2020, the Health Care Authority (HCA) updated the replacement retainer codes to align with changes to the Current Dental Terminology (CDT) handbook. The following code changes were made:
D8692 – Removed “Replacement of lost or broken retainers.”
D8703 – Added “Replacement of lost or broken retainers – maxillary.”
D8704 – Added “Replacement of lost or broken retainers – mandibular.”
HCA revised the recently updated January 1, 2020, version of the
Orthodontic Services Billing Guide to reflect these changes.
