Reminder: Dental Medical Care Services (MCS) Effective Jan. 1

Please read the following message from the HCA:

Effective for dates of service on and after January 1, 2020, clients enrolled in Medical Care Services (MCS), formerly General Assistance (GA), will receive the full scope of Apple Health dental benefits as other eligible clients as listed in Chapter 182-535 WAC.

The Health Care Authority (HCA) is in the process of repealing WAC 182-535-1066 Dental-related services—Medical care services clients since this section will no longer apply.

HCA will update the Dental Billing Guide by January 1, 2020, to reflect this change.

Medicaid Transition to Managed Care Cancelled

The 2019 Legislature has directed the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) to continue to administer the dental Medicaid program through fee-for-service. The HCA may not proceed with a carved-out or carved-in managed care dental option at this time.
