This course is broken up into 8 short sections that offer practical contemporary solutions to common problems in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Nelson will cover:

  • Practical approaches to caries risk reduction
  • Using dental photography to improve your clinical outcomes
  • Behavior modification for patients with special needs
  • Case selection for better, safer pharmacological care 
  • Intranasal drug delivery in pediatric dentistry
  • Silver Diamine fluoride
  • Chairside space maintainers
  • Zirconia crowns for primary teeth

Objectives

At the completion of this presentation, you will be able to: 

  • Learn simple and practical ways to up your game through use of dental photography 
  • Discover how behavior modification can be used to introduce new procedures to children with special needs and those with dental fear
  • Review strategies for reducing caries risk and arresting caries in pediatric patients
  • Improve delivery of restorative care through use of chairside space maintainers and pediatric zirconia crowns

Speaker Bio

Dr. Travis Nelson is a Clinical Associate Professor in the UW Department of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Nelson received his DDS from Loma Linda University, subsequently completed a residency in Pediatric Dentistry and a MPH degree at the University of Washington, and is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He has authored a number of book chapters and academic articles and speaks widely on a variety of topics.

C​ourses are usually limited to 33 attendees, with some courses accommodating more.
