Course Info

The presentation will discuss indications for treating gingival recession and review the available evidence. Cases will be shown to demonstrate various techniques. The conclusions of the 2014 European Workshop in Periodontics covering mucogingival therapy will be discussed.

Objectives

At the completion of this presentation, you will be able to: 

  • Understand options for treating gingival recession
  • Learn when to consider grafting, and when to consider alternatives
  • Learn how to estimate the amount of root coverage attainable
  • Understand risk factors for progression of recession

Speaker Bio

Dr. Weinstein is board-certified in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery. Originally from Pittsburgh, Dr. Weinstein earned his Bachelors in Economics, magna cum laude from Columbia University in 2004. He then earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 2008. He completed 2 years of General Practice Residency at the Manhattan and Bronx Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals in New York, where he served as co-chief resident. Afterwards he moved to Seattle, where he received his certificate in Periodontics and earned a Masters of Science degree from the University of Washington in 2013. He has published articles in multiple peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Periodontology, the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, and the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. Dr. Weinstein is a co-owner of Advanced Periodontics, Microsurgery and Implantology of Seattle.

The Academy is focused on developing scholars who are distinctly prepared to succeed in every aspect of their professional lives by creating a community of young dentists committed to continued learning and the Academy ideals, "aliqua, virtus, amicitia" (education, excellence, friendship).

C​ourses are usually limited to 33 attendees, with some courses accommodating more.
