Regulatory FAQ > General FAQ Questions > When is a dentist required to renew his/her Dental License?
In Washington State, a dental license must be renewed every year on a practitioner’s birthday unless the licensee has a faculty or resident license. Faculty and resident licenses must be renewed every year by July 1. The Dental Quality Assurance Commission is responsible for dental licensure in the state and applications should be sent to their office in Tumwater and not to the WSDA. WSDA receives a list from DQAC of dentists who have expired licenses and, as a membership service, will attempt to contact those individuals but ultimate responsibility falls on each dentist to renew his/her own license prior its expiration. All licensure questions may be referred to DQAC at (360) 236-4822.
