Medicaid Policy Update

Attention Medicaid Ortho Providers:

At the beginning of the month the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) announced that effective September 1, 2014, there will be a rate reduction for Medicaid’s orthodontic program for children. The new rates are now available on the HCA’s website.  The HCA later announced that this rate reduction will not affect cases that were banded for treatment prior to September 1, 2014 and that the lower rate will only apply to cases banded on or after that date.  It is important for providers to note that this rate reduction does not apply to cleft palate cases.  View a copy of the August 14, 2014 correspondence from the HCA outlining these modifications.
