Gubernatorial and Senate Budgets Include Funding for Adult Dental Mediciad

This week marked the beginning of  negotiations on the state's 2013-15 biennium operating budget in Olympia. Late last week, Governor Inslee unveiled his budget priorities during a press conference. On Wednesday, the Senate Majority Coalition Caucus released their proposed budget. The House Democratic budget is expected to be released sometime next week.

2013 Legislative Session Update

The Washington State Legislature is nearly two months into its 105-day session. This session has been a very active one for organized dentistry. WSDA has been tracking more than 30 bills related to dental workforce, loan repayment, dental access, dental insurance, licensure, and several other issues. The 2013 legislative session is scheduled to end in late April.

WSDA Advocates for Loan Repayment and Scholarships

The Washington State Dental Association strongly supports SB 5615. This legislation aims to re-invigorate Washington state's loan repayment program for dentists and physicians and encourages increased scholarship funding for dental students who desire to work in rural and underserved areas. SB 5615 is sponsored by Senator David Frockt (D-Seattle).
