DEPT. OF HEALTH ACCEPTING ONLINE REGISTRATIONS FOR FIRST-TIME DENTAL ASSISTANTS

The Department of Health will now accept online applications for first-time dental assistant who have never been credentialed with the State of Washington. Dental assistants have been able to renew their credential online since last June.

New Prescription Monitoring Video Tutorials Are Now Available

The Department of Health (DOH) recently posted several new video tutorials on how to use the state's new Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP). PMP electronically collects information on controlled substances prescribed and dispensed and gives prescribers a tool to make better-informed prescribing decisions by helping identify unsafe medication regimens, especially with patients who see multiple prescribers.

ADVOCACY IN ACTION: DOH EXPECTED TO LOWER LICENSURE FEES

This fall, the Department of Health (DOH) is expected to lower dental license renewal fees between $75-200. The current license renewal fee is $576.

DOH Releases Their Final Recommendations for the Denturist Scope of Practice Sunrise Review

The Department of Health (DOH) has released their final recommendations for the Denturist Scope of Practice Sunrise Review. Last session, the legislature had asked DOH to review a potential expansion of the scope of practice of licensed denturists to include “making, placing, constructing, altering, reproducing, or repairing all other “non-orthodontic removable devices” and “teeth whitening using bleaching solutions of twenty percent or less."
