OLYMPIC PENINSULA FLUORIDATION UPDATE

In late June, a panel of three state appellate judges ruled against a lawsuit filed by anti-fluoridation groups from the Olympic Peninsula. These groups oppose optimally fluoridating the water in Port Angeles and Forks and filed suit to stop water fluoridation. Port Angeles began fluoridating its water in 2006 and the City of Forks began community water fluoridation more than fifty years ago.

NEW UNC STUDY SHOWS BENEFIT OF WATER FLUORIDATION FOR ADULTS

On March 1, the University of North Carolina released a report on the effects of fluoridated drinking water on dental caries in Australian adults. The report, which was published in the Journal of Dental Research, showed that adults with greater lifetime exposure to fluoridated water had lower levels of caries experience.

Dentistry in the News: Bellingham Herald Piece Discusses Adult Dental Medicaid

Last weekend, The Bellingham Herald ran a piece on funding Adult Dental Medicaid and the impacts the program cuts have had on the dental safety net.
