Temporal Shift: Life in Haiti, 2012

When third-year UWSoD student Inna Piskorska left for Haiti on March 16, she was fueled by adrenaline and the excitement of the unknown — and a little sleep depravation, too. In her own words: UWSoD STUDENT INNA PISKORSKA IN HAITI, Pt. 2

Inna Piskorska is a third year dental student at the UWSoD, currently in Haiti with a group of dentists and students. The group is hosted by Medical Relief International, an organization formed by WSDA member Dr. Mike Karr. 2012 CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD NOMINATIONS

2011 Citizen of the year, Dr. Mike Karr, and his wife, Cheryl

Each year the WSDA requests nominations for its most prestigious award, the Citizen of the Year. The WSDA is looking for those members who have displayed exemplary service to the community through civic activities. This may include service with organizations, schools, non-salaried government positions or church sponsored community activities. Volunteer work does not have to be dental related.

The award is presented at the Citizen of the Year banquet held during the annual House of Delegates meeting in September. This year the banquet will be held on September 14th in Walla Walla. Last year’s winner was Dr. Mike Karr, recognized for his tireless work in Haiti, Tanzania/Uganda, the Philippines, Honduras and Nicaragua.

Nominations may be made by an individual member of the WSDA, a component dental society, or staff of a WSDA member dentist. The deadline for nominations is April 26.

To submit your nomination, please click here to complete the form
