Every day in Washington State people live with dental pain because they lack the resources to see a dentist. Although adult dental Medicaid will be restored in the coming months, it won't cover all the need throughout Washington — we need your help to increase the dental safety net. While nearly all dentists give back to their communities, the need is still great, and many organizations have clinics or hold events where volunteers are needed. We've gathered up information about some of the events and organizations across the state where you (and often, your staff) can volunteer to help those without dental health care resources.
The House of Delegates and You:
Editors Note: The WSDA recently lost another incredibly respected WSDA member: dentist, editor and educator Dr. Vincent G. Kokich passed away suddenly on July 24. After retiring in 2010, Kokich was preparing to return to his role as educator at the UWSoD. Always a consummate professional, it has been said that Kokich would have rather have been remembered first as a devoted family man and second, a teacher. A renowned educator, scholar, researcher and a leading advocate of interdisciplinary dentistry, Dr. Kokich was a prominent lecturer, having presented more than 950 lectures throughout the world.
