WSDA members provide free dental care to Veterans

Two weeks ago, Drs. Theresa Cheng and Ken Akimoto continued their yearly tradition of offering free dental care to Veterans by performing exams, x-rays, cleanings, and extractions for Veterans —  for a total of more than $13,000 in donated dental care.

Everett, Port Orchard, Renton City Councils Revisit Water Fluoridation

 In the past six months, the City Councils of Everett, Port Orchard and Renton have been reviewing whether they will continue the practice of fluoridating their water supplies. Next week, the Renton City Council will have public hearing on community water fluoridation in their community. Similar hearings were held by City Councils in Everett and Port Orchard earlier this year.

American Public Health Association Backs The Continued Use Of Dental Amalgam

The American Public Health Association (APHA) recently released a policy statement affirming that dental amalgam is safe and effective in treating dental cavities, remarking “amalgam’s contribution to environmental mercury contamination is minimal, and that limiting or curtailing its availability could have negative health consequences, particularly in low-income areas.”
