The National Dental Practice-Based Research Network is a collaboration of practitioners and clinical researchers investigating important issues that will improve the quality of dental care. Research is conducted in working dental offices on topics relevant to daily clinical practice. Working closely with practitioners, the network will develop study protocols that minimize the impact of studies on clinic operations and patient flow.
Recently, the WSDA Board of Directors directed the creation of a task force on membership to examine and diagnose recruitment and retention issues facing the WSDA. The group has their first meeting today, Friday, March 8, and will meet both in person and via conference calls throughout the year to create an action plan for the Association.

This week, three groups of students from the Seattle Academy volunteered to help Washington Oral Health Foundation staff assemble goodie bags and address thank you letters as part of “The Seattle Challenge experience.” The Challenge is a three-day urban experience designed as a retreat for the Academy’s 8th grade students, and is modeled after a similar program at Seattle Pacific University that explores the experiences of both the urban residential poor and the homeless. Students experienced some of the feelings of frustration and hopelessness common to the poor.
