In compliance with federal regulations within the Affordable Care Act (ACA) the Health Care Authority (HCA) will be conducting Medicaid provider revalidations. The HCA is required to revalidate providers at least once every five years with an expectation to revalidate 20 percent of enrolled providers each year. The revalidation process is aimed at preventing Medicaid fraud and abuse. According to the HCA, there are an estimated 57,000 providers enrolled in Medicaid in Washington state. To obtain an annual 20 percent revalidation threshold, an estimated 11,400 providers will need to be revalidated each year.
