Last week, WSDA President Dr. Rod Wentworth asked the Secretary of Health to lower the dental license renewal fee in Washington state. His letter can be found here. Washington state has the third highest dental license renewal fee in the nation at $576. According to Washington state law, health profession licensure fees can only be used to cover the costs of regulating that particular profession. Washington's dental license renewal fee was raised to cover a nearly $2 million budget deficient that was accrued by the Dental Quality Assurance Commission (DQAC). Today, DQAC has a $2.3 million budget surplus.
WSDA will continue to advocate this issue on behalf of Washington's dentists. For more information please contact Bracken Killpack at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 800-448-3368.
