« 2012 CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD NOMINATIONS »

2011 Citizen of the year, Dr. Mike Karr, and his wife, Cheryl

Each year the WSDA requests nominations for its most prestigious award, the Citizen of the Year. The WSDA is looking for those members who have displayed exemplary service to the community through civic activities. This may include service with organizations, schools, non-salaried government positions or church sponsored community activities. Volunteer work does not have to be dental related.

The award is presented at the Citizen of the Year banquet held during the annual House of Delegates meeting in September. This year the banquet will be held on September 14th in Walla Walla. Last year’s winner was Dr. Mike Karr, recognized for his tireless work in Haiti, Tanzania/Uganda, the Philippines, Honduras and Nicaragua.

Nominations may be made by an individual member of the WSDA, a component dental society, or staff of a WSDA member dentist. The deadline for nominations is April 26.

To submit your nomination, please click here to complete the form and email additional documentation such as articles, newspaper clippings, and supporting letters from organizations that illustrate the nominee's activities to Kainoa Trotter at kainoa@wsda.org. Previous nominations are kept on file for three years and may be resubmitted.

All nominations will be reviewed by the Task Force on Recognition of the WSDA. Candidates will be notified when a decision has been finalized.

Questions should be directed to Kainoa Trotter at 800.448.3368 or e-mail to kainoa@wsda.org.
