Electronic Health Records

There is no federal or state deadline for adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHR)s by dentists.

However, dentists who do submit claims to Medicare will have a payment adjustment for failure to implement “meaningful use” of EHRs starting in 2015. For more information regarding EHR implementation for Medicare providers click here.

An incentive program is being developed to help defer the cost of implementing EHRs for dental practices that work with high volumes of Medicaid patients.

ADA/WSDA/and the local components will keep our members up to date on any changes to this this issue. The EHR issue has also been refered to as paperless office or electronic records.
