Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

This Saturday, April 29 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The goal of the day is to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about medications and the potential for their abuse.

On Saturday, members of the public may bring unused prescriptions to a number of drop sites across the country. To find a site near you, search here or call (800) 882-9539

What can be collected? Only pills and other solids, like patches, can be brought to collection sites. Liquids, needles, or other sharps will not be accepted.

Other programs available throughout the year in Washington include the Washington State Poison Control Center’s Medication Take Back program and King County’s Secure Medicine Return

We encourage our members to share information about Saturday’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, as well as Washington’s year-round programs, with their patients.
