New Dental Clinic for Kitsap Mental Health Services
A new dental clinic, which opened this October on Kitsap Mental Health's Almira Drive campus in Bremerton, will help Kitsap Mental Health Services clients receive quality dental care they might not have had access to in the past. The clinic, staffed by WSDA member Dr. Monica Berninghaus, will be initially open to the almost 3,000 patients served by both Kitsap Mental Health and Peninsula Community Health.
The clinic is likely the first dental office in the nation to open inside of a behavioral health center. Patients served by the clinic might not have had access to services in the past due to the inability to find a dentist who accepted their insurance, or because their mental health conditions made it difficult to receive treatment.
The clinic hopes to eventually accept all Peninsula Community Health patients, helping to meet the high demand of adult Medicaid patients in the area.
