National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
Mark your calendars! On September 26, 2015 from 10:00am-2:00pm, local authorities will be setting up collection sites throughout the state where health professionals may dispose of any unnecessary or expired prescription drugs. This event will be nationwide, excluding Pennsylvania and Delaware, where it will be taking place on September 12th.

September 26th will mark the 10th National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, the previous nine nationwide events (2010-2014) collected 4,823,251 pounds of prescription drugs.
The misuse of prescription drugs has been classified as an epidemic by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. According to the Office of National Drug Control Policy, approximately one-third of people age 12 or older who used illicit drugs for the first time in the past year began by using prescription drugs non-medically.
Washington state has one of the highest rates of deaths from drug overdose in the country. Help combat prescription drug abuse by returning all expired and unwanted prescription drugs on September 26th!
